Salzburg

From Hallstatt, we made our way to Salzburg. The scenery was amazing!

Salzburg was a very pretty city. In fact, we decided it was one of the loveliest cities we've visited. Pretty pastel buildings, picturesque church steeples, quaint little shops, and music everywhere.

Our first stop was the castle.

After three days of traveling, we were all exhausted. 

In the evening, we went for a walk and found a courtyard full of people watching an opera televised on a huge screen. It was fun to sit on a summer evening with the castle above us and the churches behind us while the sound of symphony and opera floated all around us.  It felt like a perfect Salzburg moment.

On day two in Salzburg, we just did some more exploring.

Salzburg felt like a place that still belonged to its people--meaning, it wasn't just overrun with tourists. There were locals shopping and going to work and meeting friends at the corner cafe in Salzburg. It felt like a real city, not just a tourist relic.

A nice lady stopped working on her window display and asked if we'd like her to take our picture for us. So for once we got a shot of all of us together.

After our walk, we checked out of the hotel and started our trek back to Munich and the airport. I have no pictures of our journey home, but if I did it would be of one big frowny face. Let's just say, a 10 pm flight was not a great idea, and don't let the name fool you because there's nothing easy about Easy Jet.

Despite the difficulties of packing our troop around Europe, it is definitely worth it. Germany and Austria very much exceeded our expectations. I will miss the giant pretzels the most.
