Roo has spent hours and hours this past week listening to 101.9 The End because he was determined to win tickets to COLDPLAY (They're coming in November and tickets aren't cheap!) While I scoffed at his attempts thinking it was futile to even try, I was proven wrong! On Wednesday, I came home from work and found Roo just as calm and normal as ever. He waited until I'd unloaded the dishwasher and had just started complaining about making dinner when he took me into the office and played this video for me. (He recorded the event after--since there's a little lag time between the call and the actual playing). He was caller # 10 and won us two tickets to the concert! All his hard work paid off, and I was happy to be wrong for once! Plus, he added, we could go out to dinner to celebrate. (I suspect he may have won the tickets solely for this reason...)
In other good news, we downgraded! Our car, that is. Feeling good from winning the Coldplay tickets, we decided after a brief discussion to trade in our gas guzzler for a smaller, more efficient version. Three hours later, we had a brand new car: the Suzuki SX. It's a stick. It's small, and some may say, kind of wimpy--but I call it 'Euro-Chic'!
Now for the BAD:
The last ten days were the most awkwardly demeaning of poor Lando's young life.
He got snipped (neutered). And as a result had to wear an upside-down lampshade around his neck for ten days. He bore the burden relatively well. Due to his excessively short legs, any attempt to run up stairs resulted in the cone bouncing off the stair and sending him tumbling backwards. We had to carry him up three flights of stairs multiple times a day! Tossing him food and treats was like tossing a token into the toll booth on the New Jersey Turnpike, though. So some things were actually simplified.
Lando, undoubtedly feeling as pathetic as he looks.
He endured the Strawberry Days Parade along with the rest of the family.
(He's the one with the cone around his face cowering in the shade.)
He even went camping! This is us at Yuba lake.
Lando made his presence known by chewing on Jacob's hair at midnight while Jacob was sleeping and by running into the back of our legs with the cone then scraping away--that's enough to bring down a grown man!
And lastly, the UGLY:
This one doesn't really require much explanation. This is Munchkin. A runner up in the World's Ugliest Dog competition. I like to follow this event like some people follow soccer or the Olympics. He--or she, judging by the pearls--didn't win, but she'll always be a winner in our hearts!

Blaine heard Roo win the tickets! That's awesome, that will be a great concert.
Poor Lando.
I vote for your ugly to win, or would it be losing?

oops, I'm a dillweed, I didn't mean to comment twice.
Now I've commented three times.
That's so cool about the tickets. Even cooler you have a video of it.
Have fun!
Hey Annie! It is good to hear from you. I hope Lando is doing better, that cone did not look fun or comfortable.
Have fun at ColdPlay, that would be awesome!
I have so much to say about this one.
First of all, congratulations on winning the tickets! That is so awesome. I gave up all hope of winning anything from the radio years ago. Roo is an inspiration to us all. Viva La Vida indeed.
Secondly, I'm not going to lie. I laughed out loud when I saw the pictures of Lando. I am a horrible person.
In conclusion, where can I get a dog like that? Not Lando...the ugly one.
Yes, Annie, the hamster is going to a lovely farm, with other hamsters to play with and spiders to write messages above it's cage.
that dog is just what i look like after 3days of not shaving! any idea on how i can enter the contest.
You should give us the Coldplay tickets for my birthday. Cool car. ugly dog. Have fun in Pokey. Come to AZ again, preferably when we are here next time.
